Two days ago I resubmitted my Clawdine Kitten Goth Doll pixel to Pixel Joint where I only used eight colors and as minimal details as possible. And in the comments section I said the following after fixing an error I had: "I HOPE that the way my submission looks is what everyone wants..." From that, I received shocking responses.
I actually got a couple of responses saying that I should not worry about what someone else wants my art to look like. One in a comment where it also said unless that same person paid me to make some art for them. The other one was in a message also saying that if the color modes I use helps me get the looks I want in my pixelling then I should just use them; even in the risk of my pixels being unaccepted to the gallery. Those are the best advices I have ever gotten on Pixel Joint.
I do take constructive criticism very seriously, but I guess I was also worrying too much about what others want my pixel art to look like.
